Abbey Lodge Rest Home now features really exceptional residential care facilities that we are extremely proud of!

Having been based in Hythe, Kent, near New Romney, and open for over 17 years, we have gradually expanded and improved our residential care home to ensure absolutely first class care accommodation, facilities and environments for all our residents and visitors.

Accommodation

Our residential care accommodation is about complete privacy and all our rooms have en-suite facilities; three of which have fully en-suite shower facilities. We have 23 bedrooms in total; 21 are singles and two are double bedrooms for couple or two people who would like to share.

All rooms are light and airy, with nice views of the sea or the newly landscaped gardens. In addition, all rooms have their own TV, telephone points and Wi-Fi internet access. We provide rest home solutions for families across Kent and across south east England and ensure that your loved ones have a lovely place to stay and relax.

Lounge and activity areas

Our care home features a very spacious lounge, divided into two sections. Ample seating is arranged to enable all our residents to engage in conversation in small groups. In the large dining room, we have a dedicated activity area. We specialise in providing high quality care services in our residential car home.

We have a library on the first floor, with a quiet reading area, and plenty of books to entertain for hours. No matter what if its reading or just relaxing; our lounge and activity areas in our rest homes provide an extensive amount of entertainment 

Dining Room

Our rest home residents have a choice of dining in their room or using our large, well-furnished dining room for a more sociable mealtime. The rest home dining room is fitted to be comfortable and a socialable area for our residents so they can enjoy their meals.

We have specialist rest home staff that provide services to all our residents and will make sure that they are enjoying their meals and are feeling okay. Our staff are both friendly and professionals at taking care of anyone who needs it which is why our residential care home is one of the best.

Bathrooms

We have three bathrooms in addition to each room’s en-suite facilities. Two of these have hoist facilities for our residents that have trouble getting in and out of the bath. The third is a shower wet room. We ensure that no matter what care home requirements you have, we will meet them and provide an exceptional service.

Conservatory and front garden

There is a conservatory at the front of our residential care home, where residents can sit and welcome visitors to the home. The front is landscaped with block paving, raised flower beds, new walls and additional outside lighting (including lights in the paving).

At the residents’ suggestions, we have built a level patio outside the front porch, where the residents can go and sit in comfort and safety. The front garden has ample off-road parking for family and guests. We make sure that your care home experience is at its best and that your loved ones are able to visit and enjoy themselves as well.

Courtyard and rear gardens

Access to the courtyard garden is through the dining room, so the more adventurous of residents will be able to wander out to the garden on their own. There they will find raised flower beds, a raised pond and pergola, along with seating around the flower beds and pond.

Our residential home's rock garden is elevated with shallow steps leading up to it (with staff supervision for the less abled residents). The rock garden has seats positioned in various areas for the residents to sit and enjoy the atmosphere and at night the rockery is enhanced by small lighting to highlight the plants and rock pool.

Nurse call system

Nurse call points are situated in every room, en-suite and communal area. Our nurse call system has an intercom feature which enables staff and residents to speak to each other. When assistance is needed in ou residential care home, we make sure that our residents have quick response times and get help quickly.

The system also has features like pendant call points, which can be placed around the resident’s neck if they find it difficult to press the buzzer, and touch pads to alert staff if a vulnerable resident gets up out of a chair or wanders out of their room.

Personal care

External services include a visiting hairdresser twice a week and a chiropodist, reflexologist and dentist who all visit and attend our care home on request.

Within the weekly cost per room, we also provide newspapers, all toiletries and all chiropody services.Our residential care homes create a friendly and happy atmosphere that is certain to make residents feel at home.
